3-19 Coffee

Roasters

One of our requirements for our roasters is a passion for the art of coffee. 3-19 is fascinating because not only do they enjoy the art of coffee, one of their passions is encouraging and supporting artists within their communities. As they put it so well, “there’s magic in coffee, art and community. We’re seeing what happens when these three ingredients come together.”

3-19 sponsored graffiti

They have a huge lineup of special edition coffee tins that have unique artwork. For each of these tins purchased, 3-19 donates to the cause featured. They work with the non-profit Graffiti HeArt to create opportunities for young artists to work together and make large mural installations as well as scholarships for high schoolers.

Apart from their passion for art, 3-19 – while being a relatively new company – has spent much of their time resources building relationships with the farmers where they source their coffee. They ensure that they pay a fair amount for their coffee so that they are helping their farmers, not hurting them. While they don’t direct trade, they build relationships with everyone from the source to their facilities to make sure they understand exactly where their funds are going and that they are being used responsibly.

Wondering where the name came from? Both of the 3-19 founders – Chris and Mike – have wives born on March 19th – Jenn and Raula.

We’re excited to be able to introduce our subscribers to 3-19’s delicious coffee!
