Generous Coffee
Roasters
While we first heard of Generous Coffee because of their coffee and mission, many other’s introduction to the roaster was through Ben Higgins, who was The Bachelor for the show’s 11th season. After his time on the show, Ben worked with his friend Riley Fuller with Humanity and Hope, their non-profit. H&H aims to create lasting impact through job creation, clean water initiatives, and access to education via collaboration. They do this by working with communities in Honduras to find what they need and then create systems that can continue long after H&H has left.
During one of Ben and Riley’s trips to Honduras, they were faced with a tough question. What would happen to their current initiatives if funding ran out? This is the struggle of so many non-profits that rely on donations. To solve this problem, Ben and Riley started a company called – simply – Generous. Generous is a non-profit that aims to fund H&H while also providing jobs and income to workers in Honduras. While our focus is the coffee side of the business, Generous also sells hand-made T-Shirts, jewelry and more to that end, and plans on expanding the business as they grow.
Generous works with Utopian Coffee to directly source their coffee. While they use their own local connections in Honduras to source their Honduran coffee, they use Utopian’s network to responsibly source the rest of their coffee lineup.
Generous donates 100% of net profits back to Hope and Humanity. But sometimes net profits can mean different things for different companies. Not only does Generous donate their net profit, but they also donate 10% of their gross profit directly to Humanity and Hope.
We’re excited to watch Generous continue to grow and expand their reach! Perhaps some day Ben will be best known as the Generous Coffee guy, rather than The Bachelor.
