A GALS exit interview with coffee farmer Chishaganya Mushesha Methode
What was your life like before the GALS?
Before GALS my life was very bad, I was living without any plan, without any goal. I could get money from the farm and loose it at once and myself without asking my wife even my children.
What is your life like now? How has it changed?
My life for now is good, and is with clear goals. I have changed thanks to the GALS trainings. Without GALS I couldn’t be as I am now. All my children are going to school now, my wife is now happy as I have stopped hitting her and she has now the right of decision making. My children can also now advise me.
What are your goals?
My great goal with my family is to fight against poverty by using all the good methods and avoiding bad activities. Among the goals I can mention, a good understanding in the household, to love each other, saving money, bringing all the children at school. If we have peace in the household and in the country, it is easy to chase away poverty.
What do you think your children’s lives will be like because of GALS?
My children’s lives will be better than mine and then what they are today. Because what they are learning from us is very important, they are getting good examples from us. We are also teaching to them how to have a realistic vision.
What does it feel like to help educate other families?
Thank you so much for these trainings you brought to us, it is a pleasure for me to teach others.
