Common Room Roasters

Roasters

Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Common Room Roasters now call Long Beach, California its home. In 2017 the founders decided they didn’t think the coffee scene in Southern California was quite up to their standards coming from Melbourne. So they decided to change that. Common Room is named after the room in some schools were students can hang out and build community outside of class. Their vision for their roastery was not just to make excellent coffee but to use coffee as a tool to build community. In building that community, Common Room frequently partners with local artists, athletes, influencers and more to bring people together and encourage a positive culture in their local community.

They served coffee with some Chemex brewers and a used espresso machine and were surprised when people kept returning for more. Now they have cafes in both San Francisco and Los Angeles, with companies selling their beans wearing it as a badge of honor, and fans making pilgrimages from all over to try their coffee.
